The Couple We Met at the Hotel Changed Everything

The silence of the room broke when we opened our eyes, around three in the morning. Beside me, Daniela had already been awake for quite a while; her breathing kept a different rhythm than mine, more agitated, as if something were stirring inside her. For me, the night had passed at an astonishing speed. I had barely closed my eyes and already that invisible alarm of conscience was sounding, announcing a new day.

I said good morning to her, if that time could even be called that, and in a tone somewhere between affectionate and urgent I reminded her that we had to get moving. We couldn’t delay another minute: the flight left at six.

Thanks to my habit of leaving everything ready the night before, my routine was lightning fast. I went in and out of the shower in the blink of an eye, put on the clothes I had chosen, and was ready within minutes. Daniela, on the other hand, with her unchanging pace, took longer than expected. I took the opportunity to do one last check of everything, making sure nothing was missing. I’m that meticulous; I can’t help it.

She looked nervous. I thought it was because of the trip, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

—Honey, are you almost done? The transfer’s arriving in twenty minutes.

—No, I’m ready, I just need to put on my makeup —she said, staring at a fixed point on the wall.

—Is something wrong? You seem pensive.

—No, nothing —she answered without much conviction.

—I know you. Are you nervous about the trip?

—No… I mean, it’s about last night.

—About the hotel? Relax, I didn’t book there —I joked.

—It’s not that. I dreamed you were sleeping with another girl and I was watching.

—Really?

—Yes, it was very real. The strange thing is I woke up a little turned on and angry. I tried to keep the dream going, but you were still asleep and I couldn’t.

Not being in that dream, what a waste. I said it almost the same way, out loud, mostly to lighten the mood and get a laugh out of her.

—I don’t want you to think I’m weird —she insisted—. You can’t control dreams. And I’ll confess that yesterday I imagined you doing it with someone else and I got turned on.

—Well then let’s hope we run into a model and make it a threesome —I blurted out, laughing.

—You’d like that, wouldn’t you? —she replied with a crooked smile—. Well, let’s not dwell on it, because it looks like the transfer’s already here.

The vehicle was waiting for us at the entrance. We picked up our suitcases with that contained hurry that comes before big trips and set off for the airport. During the ride and throughout the endless hours of the flight we didn’t mention the subject again, but the silence only fed an idea that grew inside me with unusual intensity.

One question kept chasing me almost like an obsession: how far would Daniela really be willing to go? What if, in the heat of the moment, we tried something that shattered the delicate balance of what we had? My imagination, uncontrollable, began drawing painfully vivid scenes. I had to breathe deeply and smother the excitement flooding through me. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep for the rest of the trip.

***

When we landed in Punta Cana, the scene was pure chaos. A human tide moved back and forth under the harsh light of the fluorescents. The immigration lines seemed to stretch into infinity, and each minute reminded us of the hours of flight we had endured. We were exhausted; I even felt flat from sitting for so long. At last we made it through the checkpoint, and waiting for us with patience was the transfer included in the package.

We were going to share the van with three other couples and one man traveling alone, in his mid-thirties, with a lost look in the immensity of the airport. One of the couples was German; the rest of us were Latin, ourselves included, which made me feel a little more at home. But what struck me most the moment I set foot in that country was the overwhelming number of beautiful people. And among all that diversity, the young German woman in our transfer, with her defined features and distant aura, had me completely hypnotized.

—Your eyes are going to pop out from staring so much —Daniela said, elbowing me playfully.

—Shh, keep your voice down, they’ll hear you… Ah, right, I’d forgotten they don’t speak our language.

—I could make a jealous scene and they wouldn’t understand a thing —she laughed.

The blush was unavoidable. The German guy, about our age, turned his head and his eyes found mine with a cheerful expression, while he raised his hand in greeting. I replied right away. My English is far from perfect, but it lets me get by, so I gathered the nerve to speak to him. Daniela, who barely knew how to say “hello,” didn’t give it much importance.

The girl was named Astrid. As soon as she noticed that her partner had greeted me, she joined in immediately. She asked how long we were staying. “Ten days, at least,” I answered. Lukas, her boyfriend, added that they would only be there a couple more days before moving to another hotel. The conversation didn’t last long: Daniela didn’t understand much, and so she wouldn’t feel left out, each of us resumed the conversation with our own partner.

—They seem very nice, don’t they? —Daniela said, and although her voice was soft, I couldn’t help noticing the ironic edge to it. A barely perceptible smile played on her lips.

—Honestly, yes —I answered bluntly, glancing at the German couple for a second—. She’s very pretty, I’ll admit it. No point lying to you, honey: my eyes go there on their own.

—I know, you’re all the same —she shot back with feigned indignation that did nothing to hide the amusement in her eyes.

—Jealous, my love? —I asked, leaning toward her with a tone even more teasing than hers.

The transfer dropped us off at the hotel entrance, a structure that far exceeded anything I had imagined. From the vast, bright lobby, a pool spread out like an oasis, its turquoise water inviting you to relax. On both sides stretched kilometer-long corridors where, I presumed, the offices such a place needs to operate were hidden. We said goodbye to the Germans with a casual gesture and headed for the front desk.

As I walked, my eyes settled on Astrid again. I was able to study her more closely on that stretch. She had a spectacular ass, firm and beautifully shaped, reminiscent of Daniela’s, but hers rose over a noticeably smaller waist and was completed by a fuller bust. Her long, toned legs seemed designed for grace, and her incredibly straight blond hair fell over her shoulders like a cascade of silk.

Despite the distraction, I kept on course. I greeted the receptionist, gave our details, and after the formalities they handed each of us a key card. With that simple gesture, our vacation had begun.

When I crossed the threshold of the room, I went straight to the window. The suite was huge: a sitting area dominated by a sofa that invited you to rest, a giant TV, an immaculate white rug, and a floor-to-ceiling window flooding everything with light, with an intimate balcony and a small table. In the distance, the sea appeared as a blue strip on the horizon. On the other side stood the bed, king-size or maybe even larger, with a mattress that promised cloudlike softness.

—What a delight, we should buy one of these —Daniela said, stretching out on the mattress.

—I agree. And it’s huge, now I’ll be able to sleep on a bigger piece of bed —I replied, referring to how she always pushed me right to the edge.

—Really? It’s not my fault I need so much space —she answered, and I burst out laughing.

—Are you going to call the kids to tell them we got here safe?

—Yes, I’ll call them now.

While she spoke with our children, I let myself be wrapped up by the immensity of the sea from the balcony. It had been a splendid day, and the sun was already beginning to give up its reign. The sea breeze softened the heat of the trip, the kind that threatened to undo the freshness of my morning shower. The sun sank slowly, painting the sky red and orange. I turned back toward her.

—Honey, do we shower before going down to dinner, or do we order something to the room and relax here?

Daniela hung up, thoughtful for a moment.

—Mmm, you know what? Better we go down. That way we can get to know the hotel a little more.

An hour later, freshened up, we were back in the lobby. We asked at the desk where to have dinner and a young man offered to show us the way, taking advantage of the walk to show us some of the facilities. We left him a good tip and went into the restaurant.

Once seated, with the murmur of the other conversations in the background, I turned to Daniela.

—Honey, should we order something simple and then, if our bodies can handle it, take a walk on the beach?

She looked at me with a sweetly tired expression, but a spark of mischief lit up right away.

—Yes, sure, order whatever you want. Don’t worry about me, I’m not that hungry.

Even so, we ended up ordering dishes that were anything but simple: a lobster for her, its glossy shell promising a feast, and a juicy steak for me. They brought us refreshing drinks and my gaze got lost in the night beyond the windows. The green of the hotel vegetation melted into the deep blue of the sky and sea, all speckled with the warm lights of the resort. I was so absorbed that I didn’t realize that, right in that direction, was the same spectacular German woman.

She was wearing a dress that fell a little above the knee, a light fabric that suggested her thigh with every movement. Her silhouette stood out magnetically against the lit background. Suddenly her eyes met mine and, without hesitation, she greeted me with a discreet wave of her hand. I, who am anything but spontaneous with people I barely know, raised mine almost on instinct.

Daniela, with that intuition only she has, turned to see who I was greeting. When she recognized Astrid, her face lit up and she raised her hand too with a friendly smile. And, of course, the other member of the pair couldn’t be missing. Lukas was just coming back from the bathroom and, as he passed by our table, he caught the whole scene of crossed greetings. He greeted me again with his characteristic cheerfulness and, without preamble, tossed out a question that took us by surprise:

—Do you want to join our table? We’re alone, just like you.

I looked at Daniela, searching for her reaction, and immediately translated what Lukas was proposing.

—He’s asking if we want to join them at their table.

—Honey, I don’t know, won’t we bother them? I don’t understand a word of English.

—Don’t worry, I’ll help you. And it looks like Astrid speaks Spanish well; Lukas gets by.

—Okay, but without leaving me out or getting all smitten with her —she said with a somewhat forced smile.

We joined their table. A waiter, attentive, seated us so that each person was across from their partner and beside the opposite-sex member of the other couple. Astrid, in better Spanish than I remembered, took over the conversation.

—How are you? Did you like the hotel?

—Of course, it’s beautiful —Daniela said.

—We love coming for a few days when we’re here.

—Do you come very often? —I asked.

—This is our fourth time.

—Wow. And always for such a short time? —remembering what they had told us before.

—The truth is… —she looked at Lukas as if asking for help.

—Was I being rude? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.

—No, it’s not that. It’s just that every time we come we stay at two hotels, to vary things a bit.

—We like to get to know the beaches, but also pleasant places —Lukas added in Spanish, which we understood very well.

—I see. How long have you been together?

—Sixteen years —he answered.

—You make a very lovely couple.

It turned out that both of them handled the language much better than they admitted. I asked Lukas where they were from, the usual questions when you meet someone. Dinner went wonderfully; the chemistry was undeniable, both Astrid with me and Lukas with Daniela. When the after-dinner conversation slipped away from us in a flash, we were just about to go for a walk on the beach when, to my surprise, it was Daniela who made the suggestion.

—Would you like to come for a walk on the beach with us?

—Yes, of course —Astrid replied, effusive.

Daniela and I looked at each other for a moment, a spark of amusement passing between us. No words were needed: a soft, almost inaudible laugh slipped from our lips. There was something in the determination of our partners, in that tacit way of agreeing before we could even formulate an answer, that forced us to surrender. Or, better said, to accept the course of things gladly.

***

We left the restaurant, each holding our partner’s hand, like old friends reunited. Laughter echoed lightly, breaking the formality of the night. We spoke in Spanish almost the entire time, a torrent that at times made Daniela turn to me with a bewildered look. That was my cue to translate. So that the pauses wouldn’t fragment the conversation, almost by instinct we rearranged ourselves as we walked: Daniela went on the left, Lukas on her right, then me, and Astrid bringing up the rear.

The arrangement was curious, a constant alternation. Little by little, almost without noticing, the space between the two couples began to stretch until it reached about three meters. At that point, to be honest, I didn’t care at all. My attention was hijacked by Astrid; her bright smile was a beacon pulling me in.

—Are you two very close? —she asked me.

—Honestly, yes, we’ve been together quite a long time.

—You can tell you love each other a lot. You’re a very lovely couple too.

—Thank you. I figured you found me pretty from the moment Daniela caught you staring at me in the transfer.

Something clicked in my mind: she had heard Daniela teasing me. Of course, we were standing right next to each other. What an idiot.

—But… I…

—Relax, it doesn’t bother me —she said with a flirtatious laugh—. And did Lukas notice?

—He did, to be honest, but don’t worry, we’re very easygoing.

I was a little flushed, but we kept talking and I smoothly changed the subject. I didn’t want to start anything, and she made me nervous. Meanwhile, Daniela felt comfortable with Lukas, who had his arm around her waist, almost at the level of her ass. I was so entertained that I hadn’t noticed it.

—And tell me, what did you think of the night? —Lukas said to her in his foreign accent.

—Very entertaining. I thought I’d feel self-conscious with you guys, but you’re very pleasant.

—Well, with someone as beautiful as you, the night feels too short to me —he said softly, looking straight into her eyes.

—What a charmer —Daniela replied, blushing and looking away.

—It’s just that your eyes fascinate me.

Daniela felt a current run from the nape of her neck down to her crotch. She didn’t know why, but that man’s words were turning her on. For a moment she remembered what she had dreamed before the trip, and that made her wet without being able to control it, imagining that this stranger was touching her shamelessly while she let herself go.

Suddenly, almost with a leap, she stepped forward and started walking toward where we were. Lukas, visibly perplexed, stopped for a moment with genuine confusion on his face, as if he feared he had offended her. Before reaching us, Daniela slowed down, turned, and gave him a brief hug, letting him know his attitude hadn’t bothered her, and left him even more confused.

Then, with the same grace, she moved to Astrid’s side and, in a voice that mixed kindness and mischief, said:

—Sorry to interrupt, but I have to steal my “partner” for a moment. I’m taking him to the room, dear —she repeated jokingly, with a playful emphasis that referred to me, who at that instant was still dazzled.

—Of course, but bring him back —Astrid answered, matching her tone.

I approached Daniela worried, thinking something bad had happened because of how abruptly she had pulled us away from there, but she, smiling, told me:

—Honey, I think we need to go back to the room.

—Did something happen?

—No, I’m just a little tired. The trip was long.

—Okay, all right.

They said they would keep walking for a while. We said goodbye to each of them, but when Astrid said goodbye to me, she gave me a slow, sensual kiss very close to the corner of my mouth, which left me both frozen and hot at the same time. For his part, Lukas said goodbye to Daniela with a kiss and a tight hug that aroused my curiosity.

***

We returned to the hotel and Daniela didn’t say a word.

—Honey, something’s wrong —I said, stating it more than asking.

—The truth is, yes.

—What happened with Lukas? Did he do something to you?

—No, we just talked. But he started telling me he found me attractive, things like that.

—Well, you’re good enough to eat —I said, amused, brushing it off.

—Yeah, but it was kind of suggestive. I think he made me nervous.

—Did it turn you on when he said those things?

Daniela stayed silent, looking at the floor.

—Honey, tell me, I’m not going to get mad.

—I think so. For a moment I wanted to…

—I think the drinks got to us, didn’t they? —I interrupted jokingly, without showing that inside I felt a mix of jealousy and excitement.

—Don’t be mad —she said anxiously.

—You know what? Honestly, it doesn’t bother me. I have to confess that Astrid turned me on too —I tried to be honest.

—I could tell, you looked very entertained.

—There was good chemistry with them from the start.

—It’s better not to overthink it and just keep enjoying our vacation.

When we got to the room we didn’t say anything. We just stared at each other, embraced, and after a moment we started kissing and ripping our clothes off with desperation. There was no foreplay, we didn’t need it. I threw her onto the bed while I finished taking off my underwear. She was already naked, so as soon as I was free I climbed on top of her and penetrated her. There was barely any resistance: she was very wet, her excitement had been preparing the way for a while. I kissed her breasts while she pressed my head against them.

—Yes, keep going like that, what a delight. You have no idea how much I needed this.

—Would you like it to be Lukas? —I asked, staring at her, running my tongue over her nipple.

—Yes! —she answered without hesitation, closing her eyes.

I kept kissing her breasts the way she loves, fucking her hard.

—Imagine I’m Astrid —she said, drilling me with a fiery look.

There was a brief silence in which our eyes stayed locked and we could feel the other’s heart racing. With her request, a shiver ran through me. I couldn’t help remembering Astrid’s body, her taut, almost porcelain skin, imagining what it would feel like to possess her. I began a slow but intense motion, while Daniela moaned with every thrust, not caring whether anyone could hear us. We didn’t last long like that: the eroticism was thick in the air, there was no love or jealousy, only pure, almost animal desire. With that, she had a very intense orgasm that, by clenching around me, triggered mine almost immediately, until I came inside her.

It was a short encounter, intense and very satisfying. We ended up sweaty and wearing smiles we couldn’t hide.

—Wow, I think that little couple really got us hot.

—Yes, I have to admit they’re perfect for our games —I replied.

—Even so, I hope I don’t run into them again. I’d die of embarrassment, and after this I don’t know if I’ll be able to control myself.

—Well, if you can’t, neither can I.

We laughed, convinced that we would never run into that couple again. An irony, considering that, despite the immensity of the hotel, the odds of meeting again were surprisingly high.

***

The next morning, the sun was already peeking in when we woke up, around eight. We were still naked, having surrendered to sleep without realizing it. I stretched lazily and stepped out onto the balcony just as I was. The view was a gift: a clear horizon and, being sheltered from the other rooms, a strange sense of intimacy and safety.

As I breathed in the fresh air and remembered the passionate night we’d had, an idea began to take root in me. Suddenly, the possibility of seeing that couple again no longer sounded so bad. The image of having sex in front of them set my body on fire. Before the situation could escalate beyond my control, I decided it was time for a cold shower. However, right then, an even more exciting idea took root in my mind.

We had to check out that couples hotel no matter what. I wanted to experience having another couple watch us while we did it. And who knows if, maybe, something more.
